Amigdalae

Two mutually linked glands the shape and size of almonds (Origin Greek Amygdalon “Nuts”), nesting at the base of the brain, approximately between the temples; they play a significant role in the emotional processes.

Business field

The field where business potential gets expressed i.e. Capacity to produce “business results” (profit, property, position…). It is both the capacity for self-realization as well as an instrument for self-realization.

Centre for happiness

The specific area in the temporal neocortex (the basal surface of the inferior temporal gyrus, Satow et al., 2003).

Compassion

Compassion includes a thought component, namely understanding emotions (Hétua et al. 2012), and an affective component, in other words, feeling what others feel (Jolliffe & Farrington, 2004). The risk is that feeling the negative emotions (sorrow, anger) creates a reciprocal effect (sorrow creates sorrow). Hence, compassion also includes a component that avoids this reciprocity, namely reaction or reply (Dutton et al., 2006) in order to reduce pain (Dutton et al., 2006; Reich, 1989; Frost et al., 2000).

Confidence

Refers to the development of self-confidence.

Destructive emotions

Emotions that prevent our optimal everyday functioning (fear, anger, sorrow etc.).

Destructive concepts

All kinds of prejudices and pre-conceptions and hard-believes that prevent our optimal functioning.

Destructive contents of the memory

Destructive emotions and concepts stored in our memory.

Emotional intelligence

The ability to recognize and manage one’s emotions and those of others (Goleman, 1998).

Focus

Maintaining focus is a key driver of success in business. The basis of focus is attention; directing our attention to one point or direction is the key to achieving results. In business it is crucial to develop a solution oriented focus (either technical or human).

Holistic leadership view

A view which takes into consideration both the bigger picture and all of the parts that the big picture is comprised of; the ability to have a vision as well as the idea about what is the most important prerequisite for that vision to be achieved and how to get there; it also takes into account human behavior and causes of such behavior – psychological, social, cultural, financial etc., aspects, which  impact the behavior of one employee, company market position, key goals and results.

Immune system

The system in our body that resists all types of organisms or toxins which aim to damage tissues and organs.

Intuition

The way of bypassing the usual five senses in order to get information/knowledge; intuition is a spontaneous linking of knowledge, experiences and perception, where the key information is supplied by our deepest sense of good and bad.

Leadership mindset

The whole structure of the mental, emotional and inner-being components that make one a leader.

Learning by doing

The ability to acquire new skills and knowledge during the process of working on a goal and from the working experience and outcome itself (lessons learned).

Life energy

Is the energy that drives us to  thrive. It is a condition for the existence of human beings and one of the basic elements of our energetic structure. Life energy is more intense and present in healthy people, and pale and less intense in unhealthy human beings, but regardless of its intensity each of us has it.

Meditation

Comes from Latin word “meditatio”, which means “to think, to reflect, contemplation”. Meditation is about directing attention towards very concrete material objects or very abstract interior phenomena. The general effects of meditation concern physical condition, mental clarity, emotional resilience and inner maturation of the Being. Business meditation helps the body become more resistant to pain and stress, maintain focus, improve emotional resilience and find purpose also known as strategic vision.

Nervous system

The system that controls our mental functioning. It also controls all the other important systems such as immune system, cardio-vascular system etc.

Professional affirmation

Affirmation (visibility) of your professional work, contribution and professional results achieved to, but not limited to, your respective stakeholders.

Self-awareness

Knowledge about oneself, development of self-awareness as part of the process of getting to know oneself.

Self-compassion

Look at compassion but for oneself. In  other words being aware of one’s advantages and disadvantages and being supportive to improve them, rather than being hard on oneself.

Self-control

The ability to control internal impulses and respond optimally to life challenges.

Self-motivation

The ability to motivate oneself, to find the inner strength to face life issues and challenges.

Social intelligence

Act wisely in human relations (Thorndike, 1920). The intelligence that helps us in understanding and managing interpersonal relations.
